Good for agility and stretching.
Have 3 lines on court (one third of way, two thirds of way,and at end of court) do one thing to the first line (sprint, jog, hop, skip, sidestep) then sprint back. Then do another thing to the second line then sprint back, then sprint to third line and back (time players individually is a bit of friendly competition).
Sprint, hop, sidestep, skip, jog and run backwards.
Do it until players are tired so they concentrate more.
Stamina, agility, flexibility, speed.
Any.
NO way this is not a drill to avoid. This may not help your team, but I have a feeling that you run a very ball control oriented team. This is a TREMENDOUS help to those of us who have RUN and GUN teams. I use this drill with my team and their stamina has improved greatly.
Avoid this drill?? Is there any one out there that doesn’t condition their kids with some form of the traditional suicide. Furthermore I can’t believe that this is even posted, do we really need an explanation of what a suicide is?
It’s not even a pracice if you do not include suicides. Conditioning is a huge part of basketball. Make it fun / Do it with them.
I enjoyed this drill quite a lot actually, back when I was playing in the NBA (Norwegian! Basketball Association). We were a very competitive team, which helps with motivating the players to actually push themselves. As for having the coach do it with the team, I guess that is for each of you to decide… ![]()
Obviously you are all men of genius unlike our compatriot above. I do feel that his team is very uncompetitive. Not my problem though.
Sorry to have to post this here, but is there anyone out there who has a good play to use to break a full court press. I cannot find anything and I really could use one. If you could help please post it. Thanks.
A real easy press breaker: have a 3 man stack at the free throw line; first guy breaks one way, next guys breaks the other, 3rd guy works the middle or breaks up the sideline. Usually the key is always having someone work the middle. hope this helps
Bobby put this out on the website. Thanks
you guys r all wrong just let them do whatever they fuckin want! ok?!
Obviously this is a player. As a matter of fact he sounds like the guys that play for my “B” team. This is why players like him are on the “B” team. They have no heart or desire to do what it takes to get better, but I will bet money that this kids dreams of playing in the “real” NBA (sorry Pal don’t mean to offend) where they still do this drill.

Very poor name for a drill and doesn’t help basketball skills one iota. If you have to do it, have the kids dribble a basketball while doing them. Used to often to punish kids. Avoid this drill if at all possible.
