Fast reflex builder

It can go with out saying that whatever your sport, improved reaction time and response time a.k.a. reflex speed will be vital. Any and even the slightest improvements in this skill can have astonishing results on your game. Think about it for a moment… even if you could shoot, move, and jump like MJ you’d still be at his mercy if you didn’t have his eyes. Meaning react unexpectedly, see defenders before they move, and beat the head fakes.

Crawford Drill

The drill begins with two teams (six players on each team). The first player on each team will line up on the corner of the sideline and baseline on the main court so that they face their opponent (you can start one team on the left side of the court facing their opponent and the other team on the right side of the court facing their opponent using the the main court lines). This will ensure that each team is the same distance from all the baskets and no one has the advantage. Each of the other players on on their respective team will form a line one behind the other. Next, the coach will place the ball at center court. At the sound of the whistle, the first player on each team will hustle to center to get the ball. The first one to get the ball is on offense and the other player is on defense. They will now play one on one. The player with the ball may score at any basket (the closer he scores to his teammate’s line the less they will have to run when it becomes their turn). As a player, you cannot get out of the drill until you have scored. If you don’t score and the other player gets the ball, you must play defense until you get the ball back and then score. If your opponent scores, you may then grab the ball and try and score. The next player in line cannot get into the game until his teammate’s ball goes through the hoop. The objective of the game is to score at the basket closes to your line but when a player been out there a long time he will get exhausted quickly and it will not matter which basket he scores at. This is where the drill becomes hard as the player’s teammate will have to run the lenght of the floor before he/she can start playing defense. During this time the opposing players will be able to score as many times as possible. I like to play the game for a period of 20 minutes or to a score of 25 by ones.
