Tossback rebounding drill

This is a drill I borrowed from a website, but have varied it and made it much more intense. It teaches the player to time their jump for a rebound.

Instructions

Two lines at elbows of freethrow lane, facing the basket. Split up the players in order to give them more reps. Coach(es) will throw ball underhand off backboard and player will catch ball in midair, land with wide base, chin ball, pivot and outlet to player or coach.

Variations

Players can throw ball off backboard themselves, but I found better results by throwing it myself.

Tips

This is a simple drill which is exciting for younger players and emphasizes timing as a tool for rebounding correctly.

Skills

Rebounding: Offensive and defensive.

Players

4 or more.
