this drill works the lost art of having your post players work on ‘chinning the ball’ and shooting off the backboard. player must make 10 backboard swishes before drill is complete.
2 balls, 3 post players. 1 in rebounding position, 1 around the 3rd FT notch, and 1 on the 2nd FT notch(Shooter).
a ball is placed on the ground and the shooter must grab it hard with both hands on both sides of the ball. the shooter then ‘chins’ the ball (brings the ball up to his chin very hard and fast with his elbows pointing out). next, the shooter front pivots hard, with elbow out during the pivot and then sliding into correct shooting position. finally, the shooter shoots a shot off the backboard. the shot must be a backboard swish (it cannot hit any rim after touching the backboard; if it does, the shot does not count). this one shot takes about 3 seconds.
while the 1st shot takes place, the rebounder passes the ball to the player at the 3rd notch. he places the ball in a different spot on the floor. the shooter then finds the ball and repeats the same movement until he makes 10 backboard swishes.
shooter then rotates to rebounder, rebounder to placer (player at the 3rd notch), placer to shooter.
Pulling ball hard to chin (‘Chin It’), Backboard Swish Jump Shot
3 – 1 to rebound and pass, 1 to place ball in different spot in FT lane, 1 to snatch and shoot
