A killer crossover isn’t how good the crossover looks, it’s how the defender reacts to it.
I’ve heard so many people say they have a killer crossover and it sucks. This is how you really do it.
Start with the ball in the strong hand (right for now). First, look at your defender and figure out what kind of defender he is. This will help do the the cross better. Start with ball in hand and take a quick step forward with right leg and put ball between leg to left hand. If your defender jumps backward, the cross will work, if he is not fazed by it do the move again and go past him. Now after you have figured out what your defender jumps, you can do the crossover.
Now, start with the ball in the weak hand, put it between your leg to the right hand and while doing that, take a quick side hop while dribbling between your leg when you see your defender start to hop to where your going, and he will if he’s a good defender. Then plant your left foot on the ground and take a side step with your right and then cross to the left hand and don’t stand there and let your defender recover, dribble to the hoop and dunk.

I’ve used this drill to increase and enhance ball movement on offense. It is extremely effective with the younger age groups because they are able to learn the concept of passing in an offensive set. You place your players in each of their respective positions: PG, SG, C, PF, SF. You put 1 minute on the clock. The ball begins at 1/2 court with the PG. At the sound of your whistle, the ball is in play and the clock is started. The entire 5-man unit has 1:00 to score 10 points. Here’s the catch. All 5 players MUST score 1 basket (5 players x 2 pts.each = 10pts.) and no 1 player can score more than 1 basket. After a basket is scored, the ball is kicked out to the PG at the top of the key and the drill is continued. This teaches the players how to move the ball on offense and decreases selfishness with the ball as well as gets the whole team involved. If the unit does not score 10 points in 1 minute, the entire unit runs a full-court sprint.

This drill deals with teaching players how to set a screen, have a person cut off the screen, and passing the ball to the shooter. You work on having a player curl off a screen, cut back door, and hitting the screening when he rolls.

3 players stand under each basket on the court. A third group of three stands at half court with the player at mid court holding the basketball with the other players at each wing. At the whistle, the three players at half court proceed to either end to compete in a 3 on 3. Teams are to have only one shot at a basket. When a basket is made the offensive teams receives one point. Games can be played up to a predetermined amount or can be played for a predetermined amount of time.

Posting up has changed in the NBA and college game over the last five or so years. Instead of posting up on the blocks, we post up in the middle, two/three feet below the foul line. We feel the offense gains an advantage by having more options open to him.

This is a drill which, forces players to avoid the temptation to put the ball on the floor against a press defense. By not being allowed to put the ball on the floor, players are forced to catch the ball and look for a receiver that is open rather than dribble.

Three players take the ball downcourt to be met by two defenders and try to score in the shortest amount of time. The player who takes the shot becomes defense on the other side of the court and the two defenders become the offense. The two players that did not shoot become defense for the next group of three that come down. The three players that made up the 2on1 get back into line.
