Arrow Drill

This is a drill which will help when you want to press. It reminds players through repetion to keep their chests pointed at their own basket. And how to retreat then attack properly.

Instructions

First, all players make two lines at the key perimeter. One line on each side. Beginning player is on baseline. Player on GO call-
1. Backpedals to elbow
2. Sprints out to corner, closing out.
3. Backpedals back to elbow.
4. Sprints out to sideline, closing out.
5. Backpedals to halfcourt, pivoting inwards at half line.
6. Sprints across to other sideline, then up sideline, returning to the opposite line.

Variations

  • Send new player as soon as previous player has returned from the close out in the corner. Time to go 15 minutes. A regular squad with 15 players will have each player going about 4/5 times.

Tips

  • Continue to point to the direction they must go and the proper run they must perform. Stay on top of the closing out portion as it will help when you do press. Backpedaling emphasis on keeping head in front of toes, and staying in a crouched stance.
