The 989 Sports Challenge

This “drill” is used at the NBA All-Star weekend. This drill allows people to have fun while competing against themselves (or friends), for the best time.

Instructions

The player starts on the left side of the basket and by putting the ball on a chair (or the ground.) He/She then picks up the ball, and drives, and takes a lay-up. He/She then dribbles through cones/chairs set up on the right side of the court. He/She then gets to a nearby wall and throws chest passes and bounce passes at a target. After that, he/she shoots a three-pointer, and tries to make it. He/She then fires another chest pass at a nearby wall and tries to hit the target. After that, he/she then runs through another set of chairs on the left hand side. After all of that is done, the person shoots any shot and tries to make the shot.

Variations

The passes: you may only take 5 passes to complete a certain type of pass.

The shot: you may only take 5 shots to make ONLY the jump shot. Everything else is as many attempts needed.

Tips

Time yourself and try to beat your old best record.

Skills

Lay-ups, Jump-Shots, Chest Passes, Bounce Passes, Dribbling/Ball-Handling.
