Reaction layups

Line up players in two straight lines on the mid court line facing each other out side the mid circle. balls would be on one of the sides.

Instructions

The drill starts with passing the ball to the first player on the other line. The receiver can go immediately to either side of the court for a layup, and the passer will follow him to stop him or to block the layup, then they switch lines.

Variations

First without a fake, the receiver runs as he catches the ball. Then when they get used to the drill, a player may fake once.

Skills

It’s a drill where the players make layups in game speed, they also learn to protect the ball from the defender following them. They learn to block they layup or stop the break with out fouling, and it’s a great reaction drill for both offense and defensive players.
