Post player dot or cone drill

This drill combines post players scoring the ball plus a great conditioning drill also.

Place 1 dot or cone on the 3 point line in the wing area R side and do the same on the L side of the floor. Have post player start on one of the dots or at the cone. 1 passer with a ball at each elbow of the foul line. Rebounder under the basket. The post player must make a cut to the basket and receive a bounce pass from the opposite elbow player, post must then run out to other wing and touch dot with foot or run around cone and make another cut to the basket and receive a bounce pass from other elbow player.

Tips

Make sure post players are stepping with bottom foot to catch the pass and squaring to the basket with the top foot to shoot the ball.

Skills

Teaches post players how to catch a pass on the move and square up to finish the shot.

Players

1 post player, 2 passers and a rebounder.

Post Man Drill
Please send more information on the Theory of playing the Post. Drill are fine, but once the players understand theory, the skills will be sharper, and the fundamentals will be great. You can recommend a book, tapes, dvd, etc…
