Good fast break drill that uses outlets and give and go’s.
Set up two players on each sideline equal with the foul line and two guys at centre, one facing each sideline. Split up the rest of the team into one line under each basket, and give the player in the front of each line a ball. When ready, the players with the ball are to pass to the players standing on the sideline at the foul line extended on their right. They then cut up the court to receive the ball back and pass off to the player standing at centre facing the right of the court, who will again pass the ball back to the player who passed it to him. After passing to the third player and receiving the ball back, the first player will make the lay-up and move to the back of the line on that side of the court. After each player on the court makes a pass, they move to the next passing position until they are in the third passing position. From that position, the player should get the rebound from the first player’s layup and move the ball back up the court using the outlets on the other side of the court.
After they have done it on the right side for a while, switch sides and make them go left.
We run this drill full speed with no dribbles and count missed and hit layups. If they miss 3 layups in a row they do suicides or pushups and if they hit ten in a row they end the drill.
Lay-ups, give and go’s, outlet passing.
8 players to whole team.
