Pounding

Pound the ball as hard as you can, while still controlling the ball, as you dribble.

Instructions

While practicing basic ballhandling drills, incorporate a pounding action into dribbling. The excessive force will cause you to naturally be able to dribble the ball faster, making pushing the ball up court more dangerous and more difficult for the defender to steal the ball from you while dribbling.

Variations

Right hand, left hand, cross-over, between the legs, behind the back, etc.

Tips

Keep eyes up, or even closed while conducting drill.
