Players partner up. One partner stands on the center line. The other partner has the ball, stands on the back line.
On the whistle the partner with the ball (forward) dribbles as fast as possible toward the postman (defense). Fakes to the side that the ball is being carried….which will be to the outside…switches hands while turning away (back to the postman) keeping the ball to the outside…then turns and passes the postman dribbling hard on the opposite side. The postman’s job of course is to try to swat the ball away (using an underhand swing).
The forward runs up to the postman without a ball, plants his feet right in front of the defense (postman) receives a pass from a 3rd person 5-10 feet behind the center line and chooses a pivot side (keeping the ball outside) and takes off around the defensive postman.
Before starting this drill make sure that your players understand how to turn away from the defense, switch hands and keep the ball to the outside.
Switching dribbling hands and keeping your body between the defense and the ball.
